It’s always fascinating to observe how smart residential developers choose to incorporate state-of-the-art design and amenities in an environment that is historically significant and timeless. The 182-acre, master-planned community of Creekshaw, located in one of the fastest-growing suburban cities in Texas, Royse City, has done just that.

Since it is near Interstate 30/U.S. 67, a thoroughfare that runs through the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Royse City is ideally located for convenient access to big-city employment, entertainment, shopping, and healthcare. However, it has a small-town “vibe” that exudes a friendly, welcoming demeanor. This ensures that Creekshaw families feel right at home.

This respect for the integrity of this city is due to the long-term vision of city leaders who chose to preserve the charm of its downtown.

Texas Main Street

Since 2007, Royse City has been a proud “Texas Main Street” city. According to several sources, “The Texas Main Street Program originated in 1986, is part of the Texas Historical Commission’s Community Heritage Development Division. The program is among the most successful downtown revitalization programs in the nation.

“The purpose of Royse City Main Street is to encourage downtown revitalization within the context of historic preservation. The district consists of the commercial district on Elm Street (north of Old Greenville Street) to Church Street. At Main Street, the district boundaries expand east to Josephine Street and west just past Houston Street.”

The Royse City Main Street program is also recognized nationally. It has been Nationally Accredited since 2008.

“As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Royse City, Texas is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development.”

All Main Street America Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by the National Main Street Center.

Royse City leaders note that “The Royse City Main Street Program is dedicated to building economic vitality and preserving the character of historic downtown Royse City. We employ the principles of historic preservation, the encouragement of community involvement, and the Four Point Approach of organization, design, economic restructuring, and promotion to attract businesses, visitors, and residents to the Main Street district.
